WHAT IS Cellulite
Is there truly any miracle cream for cellulite? Read on to find out what is tried and tested for cellulite treatment to wear that bikini confidently.
HOW ARE CELLULITE FORMED?
Almost, if not all, friends, or someone that you know, regardless of age, physical shape, size , or ethnicity struggle with cellulite.
Why do women have more tendency for cellulite compared to men?
The answer lies in that women have 34% less collagen fibres and 57% larger fat cells in deeper layer of the skin. The combination of larger fat cells pushing upwards and less collagen anchors gives the dimpling appearance of cellulite.
Cellulite forms when fibrous bands called septae, which connect the skin to the underlying muscle fascia, tighten irregularly, pulling down on the skin, and/or begin to break down, allowing the normal layer of fat beneath the skin to push upward. This results in the puckering or “cottage cheese” appearance.
Septae is closely attached to upper skin, giving it support. However, in cellulite formation, septae are being stretched by fat cells, hence it’s tightly pulling downwards the upper skin creating the dimples in skin.
So it is not toxin accumulation as some claim, it’s a myth to say at least, hence why detox diet, lymphatic massage and body wraps just don’t work in long run, it only works temporarily to reduce water retention.
Cellulite also worsens with age as we lose more collagen and skin becomes thinner, pushing the fat pockets more and having lax skin is definitely not helping the appearance of orange peel.
Even though overweight women tend to have more prominent cellulite, it is common even in very thin women, and losing weight alone doesn’t help much with cellulite appearance.
We use a variety of treatments to help patients reduce cellulite. While none are permanent, many can achieve results that last years or longer with proper care.

WHAT TREATMENTS CAN HELP?
LASER SKIN TIGHTENING
With a simple nick over the skin and local anaesthesia, a tiny laser probe is inserted right under the skin and it will break down the septae and stimulate more collagen production, forming a thicker healthier skin. It will reduced the appearance of cellulite and after 3-6 months , the skin will regenerate more collagen and appear tighter. As with any skin tightening, wearing compression garment will enhance results and speed recovery. laser cellulite reduction is considered minimally invasive and can be safely performed by doctors and patients typically achieve their desired result after one treatment.
ENERGY DEVICE TREATMENT (VIORA)
It uses energy from radiofrequency (RF) and ultrasound to heat skin and breaking down the old collagen and stimulate new collagen to grow. Depending on number of treatments done, it may even reduce fat minimally. Energy devices like VIORA typically penetrates through the skin well so they are non invasive and well tolerated with no downtime. However , results are not permanent and it may take longer and more sessions to achieve at best, acceptable results.
Energy-based cellulite treatments are delivered through the skin, so they are considered non-invasive and usually require no downtime. However, a series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results. Additionally, results are temporary, so you will need to repeat treatment every few months to maintain results.
