First off, physical comfort is huge. Many women experience pain during sex, persistent dryness, or that constant urge to pee that never seems to go away. Then there's the confidence factor. Feeling good about your body includes all parts of it. When things don't feel right down there, it can affect your self-image and sex life. For some, it's about taking back control after childbirth changed their bodies in ways they weren't prepared for. And yes, enhanced sexual satisfaction is another big reason. Better sensation and stronger orgasms? That's definitely on the list for many women considering these procedures. What are the different kinds of vaginal rejuvenation procedure? You've got options when it comes to vaginal rejuvenation: Laser treatments   like   Petite Lady  uses controlled energy and heat to stimulate collagen production and tighten tissue, rejuvenate vaginal tissue without surgery. They're quick, with minimal downtime, and you can usually get back to normal activities within days. Electromagnetic Wave (HIFEM) Devices  such as our Inshape EMS Chair work similarly to laser but penetrate deeper tissues. They're great for improving vaginal laxity without surgery. Surgical options  include vaginoplasty (tightening the vaginal canal) and labiaplasty (reshaping the labia). These deliver dramatic results but require longer recovery time. Hormone therapy   by BHRT program isn't technically a procedure but helps restore vaginal health by addressing dryness and thinning tissue. Energy-based devices  like Petite Lady controlled energy to rejuvenate vaginal tissue without surgery. Each option has its own pros and cons regarding cost, recovery time, and results. What works for your friend might not be right for you. Does Vaginal Rejuvenation Really Work? Yes, vaginal rejuvenation works for many women. Surgical vaginal rejuvenation isn't a one-size-fits-all procedure. It typically involves vaginoplasty (tightening the vaginal canal) or labiaplasty (reshaping the labia) . During vaginoplasty, you'll be under anesthesia while the surgeon removes excess vaginal lining and tightens the surrounding muscles and tissues. Think of it as similar to tightening a pair of pants—the doctor stitches together stretched muscles, especially in the perineum area. The whole procedure usually takes 1-2 hours. This is seldom done nowadays due to the convenience of energy based devices as mentioned above. With labiaplasty, the doctor trims and reshapes the labia minora or majora that may have stretched due to childbirth, aging, or genetics. This can reduce discomfort and improve appearance. Recovery isn't a walk in the park. You'll need about 1-2 weeks of light duty at work and should avoid strenuous activities or too much walking for at least six weeks. Sex? That's off the table for 6-8 weeks minimum. The results can be dramatic—increased tightness, reduced urinary incontinence, and improved sexual satisfaction. But remember, this is real surgery with real risks like bleeding, infection, and changed sensation. How do they do laser vaginal rejuvenation? Laser vaginal rejuvenation is the new kid on the block—and much less invasive than surgery. The procedure uses focused laser energy to stimulate collagen production in vaginal tissues. During treatment, a small laser wand is inserted into the vagina. The laser delivers controlled thermal energy to the vaginal walls, causing micro-injuries that trigger the body's natural healing response. This process rebuilds collagen, improves blood flow, and restores vaginal tissue elasticity. Each session typically takes just 15-30 minutes. No cutting, no stitches, no general anesthesia needed. Many women describe the sensation as a gentle warming—uncomfortable maybe, but not painful. The beauty of laser treatments? You can get back to most normal activities immediately, though doctors recommend waiting 3-4 days before resuming sexual activity. Most women need 2-3 sessions spaced about a month apart for optimal results. Maintenance treatments every 12-18 months keep things in top shape. Results aren't instant like with surgery—you'll notice improvements gradually over several weeks as collagen rebuilds. But for many women, the minimal downtime makes laser treatment worth the wait. Risks / Benefits Top Benefits of Vaginal Rejuvenation for Women Vaginal rejuvenation isn't just a trending topic—it's addressing real issues that many women face but often don't talk about. Whether you've experienced childbirth, menopause, or simply the natural aging process, changes to the vaginal area can impact your quality of life in ways you might not expect. The benefits of vaginal rejuvenation go far beyond what most people initially think. Sure, there's the aesthetic component, but that's just scratching the surface of what these procedures can offer. Improved sexual satisfaction  tops the list for many women. As vaginal tissue loses elasticity, sensitivity often decreases. Rejuvenation procedures can enhance blood flow to the area, increasing sensation and making orgasms more intense and easier to achieve. Many women report feeling like they've turned back the clock on their intimate experiences. Increased confidence  is another major benefit. When you feel good about your body, it shows. Women who undergo vaginal rejuvenation often experience a significant boost in self-esteem, not just in the bedroom but in everyday life. There's something powerful about addressing an issue that's been causing discomfort or embarrassment. Relief from physical discomfort  is perhaps the most practical benefit. Many women struggle with: Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia) Urinary incontinence (especially when laughing, coughing, or exercising) Chronic vaginal dryness Irritation when wearing certain clothing or sitting for long periods Vaginal rejuvenation procedures can address these issues by strengthening the vaginal walls and surrounding muscles, improving natural lubrication, and restoring more youthful tissue. Reduced urinary incontinence  deserves special mention because it's such a common problem. About 1 in 3 women experience some form of urinary leakage, yet many suffer in silence. Vaginal rejuvenation treatments can strengthen the pelvic floor, giving you better control and reducing those embarrassing moments. Improved vaginal lubrication  is another significant benefit. Many procedures stimulate the body's natural moisture production, reducing the need for artificial lubricants and making spontaneous intimacy more comfortable. For women who've experienced childbirth-related changes , vaginal rejuvenation can help restore the vaginal canal to its pre-pregnancy state. This isn't just about tightening—it's about addressing stretched tissues, tears that may have healed improperly, and weakened muscles that can cause a feeling of looseness. The hormonal balance  benefits shouldn't be overlooked either. Some rejuvenation treatments can help address the effects of decreasing estrogen levels, which typically occur during perimenopause and menopause. These hormonal changes can lead to vaginal atrophy, dryness, and thinning of the tissue—all issues that rejuvenation procedures can help with. Faster recovery times  compared to traditional surgeries make newer rejuvenation options particularly attractive. Many non-surgical procedures allow you to return to normal activities within days or even hours, with minimal discomfort. Perhaps one of the most underrated benefits is the long-lasting results . While some treatments may require maintenance sessions, many women enjoy improvements that last for years. Compared to temporary solutions like lubricants or Kegel exercises alone, rejuvenation offers more sustainable results. The psychological benefits  extend beyond just confidence. Many women report improved body image, reduced anxiety about intimacy, and healthier relationships after addressing vaginal concerns. There's something to be said for eliminating a source of worry or discomfort from your life. Risks and Side Effects of Vaginal Rejuvenation While the benefits can be significant, vaginal rejuvenation isn't without risks. Being fully informed before proceeding with any procedure is crucial. Pain and discomfort  are the most common complications, especially with surgical options like vaginoplasty or labiaplasty. Most women experience some degree of soreness, swelling, and sensitivity following treatment. This typically resolves within a few days to weeks, depending on the procedure, but can be quite uncomfortable during recovery. Infection  is always a risk with any procedure that affects sensitive areas. The vaginal area naturally contains bacteria, and any disruption to the tissue can potentially lead to infection. Signs include unusual discharge, fever, severe pain, or redness that worsens rather than improves over time. Scarring  can occur, particularly with surgical rejuvenation methods. While surgeons take great care to minimize visible scarring, some women may develop thicker or more noticeable scars than expected. This can occasionally lead to pain during intercourse or other activities. Changes in sensation  represent one of the more concerning potential complications. Some women report decreased sensitivity following rejuvenation procedures, which is ironically the opposite of the desired effect. In rare cases, this reduced sensation can be permanent. On the flip side, some women experience hypersensitivity, which can make intimacy uncomfortable. Dissatisfaction with results  isn't technically a medical complication, but it's a real concern. Some women find that the procedure didn't achieve what they hoped for, whether that's tightness, appearance, or symptom relief. Having realistic expectations before proceeding is essential. Burns or tissue damage  can occur with laser or radiofrequency treatments if not performed correctly. This highlights the importance of choosing a qualified, experienced provider who understands the technology they're using. Bleeding  beyond what's expected during recovery could indicate a complication that needs medical attention. While some spotting is normal after certain procedures, heavy or persistent bleeding is not. Allergic reactions  to materials used during the procedure (such as sutures in surgical methods) or topical preparations in non-surgical approaches can occur. Always discuss any known allergies with your provider beforehand. Long-term complications  are rare but possible. These might include chronic pain, persistent dryness, or issues with urination. The long-term effects of newer rejuvenation technologies are still being studied, which is something to consider. Recovery complications  can arise if proper aftercare instructions aren't followed. These might include tearing of healing tissue, prolonged swelling, or delayed healing. For women planning future pregnancies , it's worth noting that some rejuvenation procedures might be affected by subsequent childbirth. The stretching and trauma of vaginal delivery could potentially reverse some of the benefits of previous rejuvenation. Cost complications  aren't medical but deserve mention. Most vaginal rejuvenation procedures aren't covered by insurance, as they're typically considered elective. This can lead to financial strain, especially if complications require additional treatments. The psychological impact  of complications can be significant. Women who experience negative outcomes may develop anxiety, depression, or issues with body image and sexual confidence—the very problems they were trying to address. It's worth emphasizing that serious complications are relatively rare, especially when procedures are performed by qualified professionals. However, the intimate nature of vaginal rejuvenation means that even minor complications can have a significant impact on quality of life. Minimizing risks starts with choosing the right provider. Look for someone who: Has specific training in vaginal rejuvenation techniques Can show before and after photos of their work Thoroughly discusses both benefits and risks Takes a detailed medical history Doesn't pressure you into procedures you're unsure about Has a plan for managing potential complications Remember that non-surgical options generally carry fewer risks than surgical ones, though they may provide more subtle results. For many women, starting with less invasive procedures is a sensible approach. Recovery and Outlook Recovery After Vaginal Rejuvenation: What to Expect Thinking about getting back to your intimate life after vaginal rejuvenation? That's perfectly normal, but timing matters here. Most doctors recommend waiting 4-6 weeks before resuming sexual activity after vaginal rejuvenation procedures. This isn't just arbitrary advice – it's about giving your body the time it needs to heal properly. The exact waiting period depends on which procedure you've had: Surgical procedures  (like vaginoplasty or labiaplasty): These typically require the full 6-week waiting period. Your tissues need time to heal completely, and sutures need time to dissolve. Non-surgical treatments  (like radiofrequency or laser therapy): The recovery is usually quicker, with some doctors allowing intimate activity after 1 week, but this varies case by case. During your follow-up appointments, your doctor will check your healing progress and give you personalized guidance. Even if you feel ready sooner, pushing too early can lead to complications like: Reopening healing tissues Increased pain and discomfort Potential infection Compromised results When you do get the green light to resume sexual activity, take it slow. Many women find using a water-based lubricant helpful during the first few encounters, as some temporary dryness can occur during the healing process. Some tips for that first time: Communicate openly with your partner about any discomfort Don't rush – take your time Stop if you experience pain Schedule a follow-up if you have concerns after resuming intimacy Remember, the goal of vaginal rejuvenation is to improve your sexual satisfaction in the long run, so those weeks of waiting are an investment in better experiences ahead. How Long Do Vaginal Rejuvenation Results Last? This is probably one of the most common questions I hear from patients considering these procedures. The truth is, results vary based on several factors, including the type of procedure, your body's response, and how well you maintain the results. Let's break down the typical longevity by procedure type: Surgical Vaginal Rejuvenation Surgical procedures like vaginoplasty typically offer the longest-lasting results. Most women enjoy their results for many years, often 5-10 years or even longer. The structural changes made during surgery are significant and designed to be durable. Laser Treatments (Petite Lady etc .) These popular non-surgical options usually deliver results that last 12-18 months. Most providers recommend annual maintenance treatments to preserve optimal results. The collagen stimulation from these treatments is substantial but does gradually diminish over time. Electromagnetic Wave (HIFEM) Devices  such as our Inshape EMS Chair Similar to performing kegels exercises, results build up as you undergo more sessions. Such as when you do regular exercises, the muscle strength builds up. Many women schedule maintenance sessions every 6 months to maintain their results once they have completed a cycle of treatment. PRP Therapy (O-Shot) The Platelet-Rich Plasma shot generally provides benefits for 12-18 months, though individual responses vary significantly. Factors that influence how long your results will last include: Age and Hormonal Status Younger women and those not experiencing significant hormonal changes often maintain results longer. Menopause can affect longevity of results due to decreased estrogen levels. Lifestyle Factors Several daily choices can impact how long your rejuvenation lasts: Weight fluctuations : Significant weight gain and loss can stress vaginal tissues Smoking : Reduces collagen production and blood flow, potentially shortening results Exercise : Regular Kegel exercises help maintain muscle tone. If you are lazy, our Inshape EMS Chair is always an easy alternative Hydration : Well-hydrated tissues remain more elastic Childbirth Having children after your procedure will likely affect your results, especially with vaginal delivery. Many women choose vaginal rejuvenation after they've completed their families for this reason. Maintenance Treatments Following your provider's recommendations for maintenance treatments can significantly extend your results. Think of it like hair coloring – touch-ups help maintain the effect. Home Care Some providers recommend specialized intimate moisturizers or hormone-free topical treatments to help maintain tissue health between professional treatments. For the best long-term outcome, I recommend: Follow all post-procedure care instructions meticulously Schedule recommended maintenance treatments Perform regular pelvic floor exercises Stay well-hydrated and maintain a stable weight Consider hormone replacement therapy if you're menopausal (discuss with your doctor) Avoid smoking and limit alcohol, which can degrade collagen Some women report that their surgical results have lasted decades with proper care, while others find they want a touch-up procedure after several years. The beauty of modern vaginal rejuvenation is that maintenance options are often less invasive than the initial treatment. It's worth having a frank discussion with your provider about your expectations for longevity and what you can realistically do to maximize your results. Every body is different, and your provider can give you personalized guidance based on your specific situation. Remember that age-related changes will continue naturally, but vaginal rejuvenation can essentially "turn back the clock" and then the aging process resumes from that new baseline. Regular maintenance can help you stay ahead of these changes and enjoy lasting benefits. When considering the investment in vaginal rejuvenation, factor in potential maintenance costs over time. The initial procedure is just the beginning of your journey, and budgeting for occasional touch-ups will help you maintain your satisfaction with the results for years to come. Is Vaginal Rejuvenation Covered by Insurance? The million-dollar question on most women's minds when considering vaginal rejuvenation is: "Will my insurance help me pay for this?" Here's the not-so-great news: most insurance companies classify vaginal rejuvenation as a cosmetic procedure, which means they typically don't cover it. I know, it's frustrating. Insurance companies draw a hard line between "medically necessary" treatments and "elective" procedures. And in their eyes, vaginal rejuvenation falls squarely in the "elective" category—right alongside things like facelifts and tummy tucks. Vaginal Rejuvenation Cost in Malaysia Brace yourself—vaginal rejuvenation isn't cheap. But the actual cost depends on several factors that most websites gloss over. The price tag varies widely based on: The specific procedure you choose Your geographic location The doctor's experience and reputation Whether you need multiple treatments Let's break down typical price ranges for different types of vaginal rejuvenation: Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation (Petite Lady) This non-surgical option typically costs between MYR 999 to MYR 1500 per session. Most women need 2-3 sessions for optimal results, bringing the total to approximately MYR 3000 to MYR 4500. Of course, packages are available too. The technology used matters too. Newer, more advanced laser systems often come with higher price tags, but may require fewer treatment sessions overall. Inshape EMS Chair (HIFEM) Similar to laser treatments but using a different technology, HIFEM Chairs at our clinic costs abour MYR500 per session. However, as mentioned before, it aims to stimulate the pelvic muscles similar to a kegel's exercise except at 20000 times in half an hour. We encourage frequent sessions in the beginning to build up muscle strength. Contact us for more info on unlimitted monthly session plans. Surgical Labiaplasty This is the big one. Surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedures generally range from MYR4800 to MYR5500 for a single procedure. This higher cost reflects the surgical nature, anesthesia requirements, facility fees, and longer recovery time. O-Shot (Platelet-Rich Plasma Injection) This minimally invasive option involves injecting platelet-rich plasma derived from your own blood into vaginal tissues. The price typically ranges from MYR1500 - MYR2000 per treatment, with many providers recommending annual maintenance treatments. 💎 Restore comfort without breaking the bank. Contact us for more package options. 📞 Book a consultation       💬 Chat via WhatsApp Some good news? We offer payment plans that let you spread the cost over 6-24 months. When comparing prices between providers, ask these specific questions: "What exactly is included in the quoted price?" "How many sessions will I need to achieve my desired results?" "Are follow-up appointments included?" "If I'm not satisfied with the results, what are my options?" "Do you offer any package discounts for multiple treatments?" Many women report the cost is worth it for the improvements in their quality of life, confidence, and intimate relationships. But it's a significant investment, so doing your homework on pricing beforehand is essential. Remember that the cheapest option isn't always the best value. The provider's experience, technology used, and comprehensive care plan are often worth paying more for—especially when it comes to such a sensitive area of your body. The bottom line? Vaginal rejuvenation is a personal investment that typically comes with out-of-pocket costs. Vaginal rejuvenation offers a viable solution for women experiencing changes in vaginal structure and function due to aging, childbirth, or hormonal shifts. The various treatment options - from non-invasive laser procedures to surgical interventions - have demonstrated effectiveness in addressing concerns like laxity, dryness, and urinary incontinence. While the procedures carry potential risks, the benefits of improved sexual satisfaction, confidence, and quality of life make vaginal rejuvenation an increasingly popular choice. As medical technology continues to advance, vaginal rejuvenation remains a personal but potentially transformative option for women seeking to reclaim comfort and confidence in their bodies. 📞 Want to know which vaginal rejuvenation option suits you best? • Aesthetic Treatment Quiz: Are You an Expert or a Beginner?

Are you prepared to delve into the fascinating realm of aesthetic treatments? Whether you’re a curious newcomer eager to discover ways to enhance your appearance and elevate your confidence, a seasoned enthusiast with several treatments already experienced, or someone who harbors reservations about this domain for personal reasons, we encourage you to embrace the excitement of aesthetic treatments! Let’s put your aesthetic treatment knowledge to the test! Answering some playful questions about aesthetic treatments might just reveal surprising facts and help debunk common misconceptions. Who knows—you might discover something new along the way!   Question 1   You have a short, receding chin and feel self-conscious about your appearance. What treatment do you think would suit you best?   A.    Botox B.    Filler C.    Facials   A: Botox Botox, or botulinum toxin type A, is a popular treatment that temporarily reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It works by blocking nerve signals to the muscles, causing them to relax. When these muscles can't contract as strongly, wrinkles and lines become less visible, creating a smoother, more youthful look. Botox can also temporarily reduce the size of muscles, like the masseter muscles. By injecting Botox into these muscles, you can achieve a slimmer, more contoured facial appearance.   B: Filler Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore volume, enhance facial contours, and provide structural support for soft tissues to treat mild sagging. Unlike Botox, which relaxes muscles, fillers work by adding substance to specific areas of the face to create a fuller, more youthful appearance. C: Facials Our clinic offers a variety of facial treatments tailored to revitalise your skin. These treatments focus on clearing away dead skin cells, dirt, and excess oil, which helps prevent clogged pores. By removing these factors that contribute to a dull complexion, your skin will appear cleaner, refreshed, and radiant.   So, the answer is B. Squarish chin is often seen as a more masculine feature. Adding a small amount of filler can help to contour and shape the chin, giving it a softer, more pointy appearance that enhances feminine facial features. Question 2   Injecting botox into blood vessels can be dangerous.   A.     True B.     False   Unlike fillers, botox is a thinner liquid that does not add volume to the treatment area, so it does not cause vascular occlusion, which eliminates risks like blindness or tissue necrosis. If a vessel is accidentally hit during injection, you may experience more bruising and bleeding. Otherwise, with the average doses of botox, it is extremely unlikely to have any serious adverse effects.   So, the answer is B, false!!!   Question 3 You have acne like this. What should you do? A.     Squeeze it to help it heal B.     Scrub your face daily C.     Wait for it to clear up on its own D.    Apply more moisturiser E.     None of the above A: Squeeze it to help it heal Squeezing acne is generally discouraged because it can actually make the condition worse. When you squeeze a pimple, you risk pushing bacteria and dead skin deeper into the pore, which can lead to further infection and more breakouts. This action also damages the surrounding skin tissue, increasing the chance of permanent scarring. Additionally, squeezing causes more redness, swelling, and discomfort, as it adds to the inflammation already present in the area.   B: Scrub your face daily Scrubbing your face daily can actually harm your skin rather than help it. While it might seem like exfoliating every day would keep your skin clear, frequent scrubbing can strip away the skin’s natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation. This can cause your skin to overproduce oil to compensate, which may lead to more breakouts. Daily scrubbing also weakens the skin’s protective barrier, making it more sensitive and prone to redness, inflammation, and even small tears in the skin’s surface. Instead, it’s better to exfoliate gently one to three times per week, to remove dead skin cells without causing irritation. A chemical exfoliant like salicylic acid is a great option, as it not only removes dead skin cells but also helps control oil production and reduce inflammation. C: Wait for it to clear up on its own With acne like this, scarring is likely, including hypertrophic and depressed scars, which are much harder to treat and are permanent without intervention. That’s why it’s important to get treated early to help prevent scar formation.   D: Apply more moisturiser Moisturisers aren’t ideal for everyone, especially if you have acne, where hydration isn’t the main priority. Instead, the focus should be on ingredients or treatments that control oil production, exfoliate, reduce inflammation, and provide antimicrobial effects. Overusing moisturiser can clog pores and trap dead skin cells, which may lead to acne. For effective acne management, it is best to consult with a doctor. Treatment options can include topical, oral medications, and even specialised procedures tailored to your skin's needs.   E: None of the above? Yes. The answer is none of the above.   Question 4   Is it necessary to wear sunscreen when you are indoors?   A.     Yes B.     No   Although certain types of window glass can block UVB rays (which cause sunburn), they still allow UVA rays to pass through. UVA rays can penetrate deep into the skin, contributing to premature aging, pigmentation, and long-term skin damage. UVB rays have slightly more energy than UVA rays. They can directly damage the DNA in skin cells and are the primary cause of sunburns. UVB rays are also believed to be responsible for most skin cancers. So, the answer is yes, especially if you’re near windows.   Question 5   Which of the following is true about sunscreen?   A.     Apply sunscreen once daily B.     Apply thin layer of sunscreen C.     I don’t get vitamin D if I apply sunscreen D.    None of the above is true   A: Apply sunscreen once daily Applying sunscreen only once a day is insufficient because sunscreen effectiveness diminishes over time. Sweat, natural skin oils, water exposure can break down or remove sunscreen, reducing its protective barrier. Most sunscreens are designed to last about two hours, so reapplying every two hours during sun exposure is recommended for optimal protection. Additionally, if you're swimming, sweating, or wiping your face, sunscreen can wear off even faster, making reapplication essential to maintain effective coverage against harmful UV rays. B: Apply thin layer of sunscreen Applying a thin layer of sunscreen is inadequate because it doesn’t provide the full level of sun protection indicated on the product label. Sunscreen efficacy depends on achieving an even, thick enough layer to fully shield the skin from UV rays. The SPF (sun protection factor) of a sunscreen is measured by testing it at a specific application thickness—2 mg/cm² of skin. However, studies show that people usually apply much less than this, typically only 0.5 to 1.5 mg/cm². This reduces the actual protection to about one-third of the SPF listed on the bottle. This lower-than-expected protection might partly explain why sunscreen use has sometimes been linked to an increased risk of skin cancer, as people may not be as protected as they think. To apply sunscreen at the recommended dose of 2 mg/cm², squeeze two strips of sunscreen along both the index and middle fingers, from the base of the fingers to the fingertips. This “two-finger” method gives you an amount similar to what is used in SPF testing, ensuring adequate protection. This method can be applied to the following areas of the body: 1.     Face and neck 2.     Left arm 3.     Right arm 4.     Upper back 5.     Lower back 6.     Upper front torso 7.     Lower front torso 8.     Left upper leg and thigh 9.     Right upper leg and thigh 10.  Left lower leg and foot C: I don’t get vitamin D if I apply sunscreen Y ou can still get vitamin D while wearing sunscreen, though it may reduce the amount produced by your skin. Sunscreen blocks some UVB rays, which are needed for the skin to synthesize vitamin D. However, studies show that even with regular sunscreen use, most people still produce sufficient vitamin D through incidental sun exposure. To maintain healthy vitamin D levels, you don’t need extended sun exposure, as just a few minutes of unprotected exposure on your hands, face, or arms each day can help. If you have limited sun exposure, supplements or vitamin D-rich foods (like fish, eggs, and fortified milk) can also help support adequate levels. D: None of the above is true? Yes. None of the above is true. So, the answer is D. Question 6 Which of the following statements about botox is true?   A.     Injecting botox makes your face looks bloated B.     Botox can erase all my wrinkles C.     Botox is not permanent D.    If you stop using botox, your wrinkles will get worse   A: Injecting botox makes your face looks bloated Botox will not make your face look puffy or bloated, as it does not add volume. Many people mistakenly confuse Botox with filler. Fillers add volume to specific areas, but the photos that often deter people from treatment usually show results after large amounts of filler or frequent applications, sometimes with improper technique. Overfilling is not the goal of our treatments.   B: Botox can erase all my wrinkles. There are two types of wrinkles—dynamic and static. Dynamic wrinkles appear with facial movements, while static wrinkles are visible even when the face is at rest. Botox can help reduce both types, but static wrinkles may require additional treatments, like fillers, laser, radiofrequency microneedling for optimal results. C: Botox is not permanent Botox lasts for 3-6 months. D: If you stop using botox, your wrinkles will get worse. If you decide to discontinue Botox treatments, your wrinkles will simply return to their natural appearance over time as your facial muscles regain movement. Botox temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles, which softens their appearance. When the effects wear off (typically after 3–6 months), your skin and muscles will return to their usual state, and wrinkles will gradually reappear as they were before. Stopping Botox does not make wrinkles worse; it just allows the natural aging process to continue. Without Botox, wrinkles may deepen as they would naturally with age and repeated facial expressions, but they won’t worsen beyond what would have occurred if you’d never used Botox at all. Many people find that with regular Botox use, they can prevent some lines from deepening over time, which is why they may notice a difference when they stop. So, the answer is C. Question 7 Which of the following treatments can help with lifting? A.    Microdermabrasion B.    10therma C.    Skin booster D.    Aqualyx A: Microdermabrasion Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that exfoliates the skin, helping to improve its appearance. It uses a specialised device that gently removes dead skin cells from the outermost layer, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath. B: 10therma 10Therma is a non-invasive skin treatment that uses monopolar radiofrequency (RF) technology to help tighten and lift the skin. It works by generating heat deep in the dermis, stimulating collagen production, and offering a firming effect. One of the key advantages of 10Therma is that it targets deeper layers, reaching a depth of about 4.3mm, which enhances its effectiveness in addressing sagging, wrinkles, and loss of skin elasticity. C: Skin booster Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to hydrate and rejuvenate the skin from within. Skin boosters focus on improving the hydration and quality of the skin by delivering a blend of hyaluronic acid and other ingredients into the skin for more rejuvenated and radiant skin. D: Aqualyx Aqualyx is an injectable treatment designed to target and reduce localised fat deposits, offering a non-surgical solution for body contouring. When injected into the fatty tissue, Aqualyx breaks down the fat cells, which are then gradually metabolised by the body. Over time, this results in a more sculpted, contoured appearance. The answer is B, 10therma. Question 8 Which of the following is true about Radiesse? A.     Radiesse is a biostimulator B.     Radiesse is botox C.     Radiesse is a type of machine used for lifting D.    Radiesse is a type of hyaluronic acid filler A.     Radiesse is a biostimulator Radiesse is known as a biostimulator   because it not only provides immediate volume but also stimulates the body’s natural collagen and elastin production over time, which improves skin firmness and elasticity. It provides long-term structural improvements, leading to more sustainable results compared to standard fillers. B.    Radiesse is botox Radiesse is not botox. It does not relax your muscles. C.    Radiesse is a type of machine used for lifting Radiesse is not a machine, it is an injectable gel used to replace volume loss, provide structural support and improve skin quality. D.   Radiesse is a type of hyaluronic acid filler Radiesse is not a hyaluronic acid filler. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres   suspended in a gel matrix. When injected, these microspheres act as a scaffold, encouraging fibroblast activity in the skin to produce new collagen and elastin. As the gel carrier is absorbed over time, the CaHA particles remain and stimulate collagen production, which improves skin firmness and elasticity, even after the initial filler effect starts to fade. The answer is A. So, how many did you get right? Want to dive deeper into the world of aesthetic treatments? Check out more of our blog posts for more fun facts and expert tips!

  • The Great Debate: Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Aesthetic Procedures - Choose Your Path to Beauty Carefully

When considering aesthetic beauty procedures, individuals often find themselves at a crossroads, pondering the choice between surgical vs non-surgical interventions. This decision is not merely about enhancing one's appearance but also about understanding the nuances that differentiate these two approaches. Surgical procedures, such as facelifts or liposuction, offer more dramatic and immediate results compared to non-surgical options like Botox or dermal fillers. However, they come with a trade-off in terms of downtime, as recovery from surgery can require weeks of rest and limited activity. On the other hand, non-surgical treatments provide a quicker turnaround with minimal downtime, allowing individuals to resume their daily activities almost immediately. While the results may be more subtle and require maintenance sessions, the reduced risks and shorter recovery period make non-surgical procedures an attractive choice for many. Additionally, non-surgical options often involve fewer complications and side effects, offering a safer route to achieving aesthetic goals. Exploring the realms of surgical and non-surgical aesthetic procedures unveils a spectrum of considerations that go beyond mere physical transformation. Factors such as cost, invasiveness, and longevity of results play a crucial role in guiding individuals towards the most suitable approach for their unique needs. By weighing the pros and cons of each option, individuals can make an informed decision that aligns with their aesthetic aspirations and lifestyle preferences. The Revelation of Surgical Beauty Procedures Surgical aesthetic procedures have a rich history dating back to ancient times when early civilizations explored various techniques to enhance beauty and alter physical appearances. Over the years, advancements in medical technology and techniques have revolutionized the field, making it possible to achieve remarkable transformations that were once unimaginable. Clinics like RJ Clinic play a crucial role in this realm, offering a range of specialized services tailored to meet individual needs and desires. From facelifts and liposuction to breast augmentation and rhinoplasty, surgical aesthetic procedures encompass a wide array of options designed to sculpt and refine the body and face. While non-surgical alternatives continue to gain popularity, surgical interventions remain unparalleled in their ability to deliver profound and lasting changes. Patients often seek out these procedures with specific goals in mind, whether it's to address signs of aging, correct physical imperfections, or simply boost self-confidence. It is important to note that while surgical aesthetic procedures offer transformative outcomes, they also come with inherent risks and considerations. Patients considering such interventions should carefully weigh the benefits against the potential complications and downtime associated with surgery. Additionally, choosing a reputable clinic with experienced surgeons, like RJ Clinic, is essential to ensure safety, quality outcomes, and personalized care throughout the process. Downtime Dilemma When it comes to surgical procedures, the aspect of downtime plays a crucial role in the decision-making process for both patients and medical professionals. The recovery period following surgery is a critical phase that requires careful attention and planning. The duration of downtime can vary greatly depending on various factors, such as the type and complexity of the procedure, the patient's overall health condition, and the individual's body's natural healing process. For minor surgeries, the downtime may be relatively short, lasting only a few days before the patient can resume their normal activities. However, for more complex procedures or major surgeries, the recovery period can extend to several weeks or even months. During this time, patients may experience pain, discomfort, and limitations in their mobility, which can impact their daily routines and lifestyle. Considering the downtime is essential, especially for individuals with busy schedules or demanding jobs. Planning for the recovery period in advance can help patients make necessary arrangements, such as taking time off work, arranging for assistance with daily tasks, and ensuring a supportive environment for their recovery. Furthermore, healthcare providers also take into account the downtime when discussing treatment options with patients. They provide detailed information about the expected recovery timeline, potential complications, and post-operative care instructions to help patients make informed decisions about their surgical procedures. In conclusion, the aspect of downtime is a critical consideration in surgical procedures, impacting both patients and healthcare providers. Understanding the recovery period and planning accordingly can contribute to a smoother and more successful post-operative experience for individuals undergoing surgery. Result Longevity Surgical interventions are medical procedures that involve making incisions in the body to address various health issues or to enhance physical appearance. These interventions are typically performed by trained surgeons in a controlled environment like a hospital or surgical center. One of the key advantages of surgical interventions is their potential to deliver long-lasting results that can endure for years. Unlike non-surgical options, which may offer temporary solutions, surgical procedures often provide more permanent changes that can significantly impact a person's life. The longevity of results achieved through surgical interventions can be attributed to the fact that these procedures often involve altering the underlying structures of the body. For example, cosmetic surgeries like rhinoplasty or breast augmentation can reshape or enhance specific features in a way that non-surgical treatments cannot replicate. Similarly, surgical interventions for medical conditions such as joint replacements or organ transplants can offer patients lasting relief and improved quality of life. While surgical interventions come with certain risks and recovery periods, many individuals opt for these procedures because of the transformative and enduring outcomes they can provide. Patients considering surgical interventions should consult with healthcare professionals to understand the potential benefits, risks, and expected outcomes of the procedure before making a decision. Overall, surgical interventions offer a valuable option for individuals seeking long-term solutions to their health or aesthetic concerns. Caveats of Risks When considering surgical procedures, it is essential to acknowledge the array of risks that accompany such interventions. These risks are not to be taken lightly, as they can manifest in a variety of ways, impacting both the short-term and long-term outcomes of the procedure. During the surgical process itself, complications such as bleeding, infection, or adverse reactions to anesthesia can arise, necessitating the need for skilled medical professionals to navigate these challenges effectively. Furthermore, the post-operative phase introduces a new set of potential risks that patients must be prepared for. Issues like wound healing complications, infections, or unexpected side effects from medications can prolong recovery and require additional medical attention. It is crucial for individuals considering surgery to thoroughly research these possibilities and engage in comprehensive discussions with their healthcare providers to fully understand the risks involved. Ultimately, the decision to undergo a surgical procedure should not be taken lightly. By approaching the process with a well-informed mindset, patients can better assess the risks and benefits, ultimately leading to a more confident and empowered choice regarding their healthcare journey. The Allure of Non-Surgical Beauty Procedures In contrast to traditional surgical methods, non-surgical aesthetic procedures provide a less intrusive approach for individuals looking to enhance their beauty without the need for extensive surgery. The appeal of these procedures lies in their ability to deliver noticeable results with minimal downtime and a reduced risk of complications. This has led to a surge in their popularity as more people opt for non-surgical treatments to address various cosmetic concerns. Non-surgical aesthetic procedures encompass a wide range of options, including injectables, laser treatments, and skin rejuvenation techniques. These treatments can target specific areas of concern such as wrinkles, fine lines, volume loss, and skin texture irregularities. By tailoring the procedure to the individual's unique needs, practitioners can achieve natural-looking results that enhance the patient's features while maintaining a youthful appearance. Furthermore, non-surgical procedures are often more cost-effective than traditional surgical interventions, making them accessible to a broader demographic. The ability to undergo these treatments during a lunch break or quick appointment adds to their appeal, allowing individuals to resume their daily activities with minimal disruption. Overall, the rise of non-surgical aesthetic procedures represents a shift towards more personalized and minimally invasive approaches to beauty enhancement. As technology continues to advance and new techniques emerge, these procedures are likely to become even more sophisticated, offering individuals a wider array of options to achieve their desired aesthetic goals. Downtime Delight Non-surgical procedures have gained immense popularity due to their minimal downtime, allowing individuals to quickly return to their daily routines without significant interruptions. This convenience is particularly appealing to people with busy schedules or active lifestyles who cannot afford extended recovery periods. By opting for non-invasive treatments, individuals can address cosmetic concerns or medical issues effectively while minimizing the impact on their day-to-day activities. Moreover, the reduced downtime associated with non-surgical procedures not only benefits individuals in terms of convenience but also contributes to their overall well-being. Being able to resume normal activities promptly can have a positive impact on mental health, as it prevents prolonged periods of inactivity or restrictions. This aspect is especially crucial for those who value staying productive and maintaining a sense of normalcy in their lives. Furthermore, the quick recovery time offered by non-surgical procedures aligns well with the modern pace of life, where efficiency and effectiveness are highly valued. Instead of having to set aside extended periods for recovery, individuals can undergo treatments and swiftly get back to their commitments, whether professional, personal, or social. This seamless integration of medical or cosmetic enhancements into daily life underscores the increasing role of non-surgical procedures in meeting the needs of contemporary individuals. Result Realities Non-surgical procedures have gained popularity in the realm of cosmetic enhancements due to their ability to deliver subtle yet effective results. These treatments, although not as permanent as surgical interventions, offer a more gradual transformation that can evolve over time, resulting in a natural and authentic appearance. The beauty of non-surgical procedures lies in their ability to provide enhancements without the need for invasive surgery, making them a preferred choice for individuals seeking a more conservative approach to aesthetics. One of the key advantages of non-surgical procedures is the flexibility they offer in terms of adjusting and refining the results. Unlike surgical interventions, which are often more permanent, non-surgical treatments allow for modifications to be made as desired. This adaptability ensures that individuals can achieve their desired aesthetic goals while also having the option to make changes as their preferences evolve. It is important to note that the longevity of results from non-surgical procedures can vary depending on the type of treatment and individual factors such as skin type and lifestyle. While some treatments may provide long-lasting effects, others may require periodic touch-ups to maintain the desired look. These touch-ups serve as a way to preserve the enhancements achieved through the initial treatment and ensure that the results remain consistent and satisfactory over time. In conclusion, non-surgical procedures offer a unique approach to cosmetic enhancements by providing subtle and natural-looking results that can be tailored to individual preferences. While they may not offer the permanence of surgical interventions, the ability to evolve and adjust the outcomes over time makes non-surgical treatments a valuable option for those looking to enhance their appearance with flexibility and precision. Navigating Risks Non-surgical procedures have gained popularity in recent years as a less invasive option for individuals seeking cosmetic enhancements or medical treatments. While these procedures offer a range of benefits, it is essential to acknowledge that they are not entirely risk-free. Like any medical intervention, non-surgical procedures carry the potential for side effects and complications, albeit to a lesser extent than surgical interventions. It is crucial for individuals considering non-surgical procedures to conduct thorough research and choose reputable practitioners with a proven track record of safety and efficacy. Understanding the potential downsides and risks associated with a specific procedure is paramount before making a decision to undergo treatment. By having realistic expectations and being well-informed, individuals can make informed choices that align with their goals and prioritize their health and well-being. The Beauty Path Forward When it comes to deciding between surgical and non-surgical aesthetic procedures, individuals are often faced with a myriad of factors that influence their choice. Personal preferences play a crucial role in this decision-making process, as each person's idea of beauty is subjective and unique. Goals, whether they involve subtle enhancements or more dramatic transformations, also shape the direction individuals take in their aesthetic journey. Moreover, risk tolerance is a significant consideration when weighing the options between surgical and non-surgical procedures. Surgical interventions typically come with higher risks due to the invasive nature of the procedures, while non-surgical treatments may offer more conservative approaches with lower associated risks. Understanding and assessing one's own risk tolerance is essential in making an informed decision that aligns with individual comfort levels. Embarking on the journey towards beauty enhancements requires a comprehensive approach that involves research, consultations, and introspection. Researching different procedures, understanding their benefits and limitations, and consulting with qualified professionals can provide valuable insights that aid in decision-making. Furthermore, introspection allows individuals to reflect on their motivations, expectations, and desired outcomes, ensuring that their choices are in line with their personal values and aspirations. It is essential to recognize that the quest for beauty is multifaceted and deeply personal. Factors such as downtime, result longevity, and associated risks should all be carefully considered to tailor the aesthetic journey to individual needs and preferences. By taking the time to weigh these factors thoughtfully, individuals can pave the way for a fulfilling and satisfying experience as they pursue their aesthetic goals. In conclusion, whether you opt for the transformative power of surgical procedures or the subtlety of non-surgical interventions, remember that beauty is a personal journey, and choosing your path wisely is key to achieving the enhancements you desire. Beauty is a mosaic of choices – surgical or non-surgical, each offering unique benefits and considerations. As you embark on your beauty journey, let your decisions be reflections of your aspirations and desires, leading you towards the beauty that resonates with your true self.

  • Brighten and Revitalize: Exploring Eye Area Rejuvenation

It’s often said that eyes are the window to the soul, and they’re typically the first thing we notice about someone. Since the COVID pandemic, with masks covering our faces, our eyes have become even more prominent. Eye area rejuvenation has a significant impact on how others perceive us—some eyes can convey youth and vibrancy, while others may appear tired or aged. Why do you need eye area rejuvenation? What makes a person look tired or old? Fine lines and wrinkles It is common for fine lines and wrinkles to reveal your age. Some individuals experience premature development of fine lines and wrinkles, making them appear older than their actual age. Intrinsic factors, which are beyond one’s control, encompass genetic and ethnic influences. Have you even noticed that individuals with darker skin tend to appear younger than their age? The extent of melanin (pigment that is responsible for skin coloration) in the skin contributes to this phenomenon. Darker skin tones possess larger melanosomes, the pockets within skin cells containing melanin, whereas pale skin produces minimal melanin. In dark skinned, other than the size of melanosomes being larger, their melanin is also densely packed, providing enhanced absorption and scattering of light. This offers greater protection against the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Excessive exposure to UV radiation elevates the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which, when present in higher concentrations, can harm the essential skin proteins, namely collagen and elastin.   Another element contributing to the development of wrinkles around the eyes, beyond our control, is muscle movement. The contraction of muscles during smiling, laughing or squinting can lead to the formation of wrinkles. This effect is exacerbated when we experience a loss of collagen and elastin fibers in skin due to reasons mentioned earlier.   Treatment Botox Botox, or Botulinum Toxin, is commonly used to address wrinkles around the eyes. Controlled doses of botox is injected into the muscles responsible for eye movements and expressions. This causes a temporary reduction in muscle activity. This, in turn, smoothens the overlying skin and diminishes the appearance of wrinkles. The effects typically last for 3 to 6 months, after which the treatment may need to be repeated to maintain the desired results. Fractional laser Fractional laser is a procedure that uses targeted laser beams to treat specific areas of the skin. It is known as “fractional” because it treats a fraction of the skin’s surface at a time, creating tiny, controlled zones of injury. This stimulates body’s natural healing processes and promotes collagen and elastin production, which in turn improves your skin quality with less fine lines and wrinkles.   RF Microneedling Potenza is a radiofrequency microneedling machine. It is a machine with handpiece consisting of multiple ultrafine needles that gives off FDA-approved radiofrequency (RF) energy. This treatment also triggers your skin’s natural healing process and stimulate production of new collagen and elastin. It's versatile, capable of targeting not only the areas around your eyes but also your entire face or any desired area on your body to effectively enhance skin tightening . Eyebags Eyebags occur when there is inadequate support from the muscles and surrounding tissues that normally hold the fat pockets in place. Consequently, the fat protrudes, giving rise to the visible appearance of bags under the eyes . The bulge of fat is subject to variability of fluid in this area. So, allergy, sinus problem, salt intake or hormonal fluctuation have some degrees in affecting the severity of puffiness.                                        Since the main culprit is the fat, eye creams will not work. Dark circles Dark circles under the eyes can be a source of frustration for many, leading to a tired and aged appearance that can affect confidence levels.   Contrary to popular belief, dark circles are not solely caused by lack of sleep. While fatigue can exacerbate the appearance of dark circles, there are several other factors at play, for example genetics, skin tone, allergies, thinning skin due to aging, dehydration and sun exposure.   The type of dark circles can be divided into pigment type , vascular type and structural type . Sometimes, it can be mixed .   Pigment type Pigment type dark circles, also known as hyperpigmentation under the eyes, occur when the skin produces an excess of melanin, resulting in dark patches or discoloration in the undereye area. Unlike other types of dark circles, pigment type dark circles are primarily due to melanin deposition that can be due to:   Sun exposure Overexposure to UV rays can stimulate melanin production in the skin, leading to hyperpigmentation not only on the face but also in the delicate under-eye area.   Genetics Some individuals are genetically predisposed to have more melanin in certain areas of the skin, including the under-eye region.   Hormonal changes Fluctuations in hormone levels, such as those experienced during pregnancy or while taking birth control pills, can trigger melanin production and result in dark circles.   Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation Skin trauma or inflammation caused by conditions, like eczema, allergic reactions, constant eyes rubbing habit can lead to hyperpigmentation as the skin heals.   Pigment type dark circles can be treated by treatments that deal with the pigment.   Skincare products containing depigmenting ingredients such as hydroquinone, kojic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide, licorice extract, and retinoids can help lighten hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone over time. These ingredients work by inhibiting melanin production, promoting skin cell turnover, and thus reducing the appearance of dark spots.   Chemical peels containing AHA alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can help exfoliate the skin and fade hyperpigmentation.   Laser treatments can target pigmented cells in the skin and break up excess melanin. Multiple sessions may be required to achieve optimal results.   Skin boosters can be injected to undereye areas to brighten the areas and help boost collagen production.   Preventing further sun damage is important in managing pigment type dark circles. Wear sunscreen with broad- spectrum protection (SPF 30 or higher) daily, and use sunglasses and hats to shield the delicate under-eye area from harmful UV rays.   Vascular type Vascular type dark circles are characterised by the visibility of blood vessels beneath the thin skin in the undereye area. This type of dark circles typically appears as bluish or purplish discoloration and is often caused by various factors related to blood circulation and skin structure such as thin skin, genetics, lack of sleep, dehydration and excessive alcohol consumption.   Allergic shiners are often triggered by nasal congestion or a stuffy nose, which occurs when the tissue and blood vessels in the nasal passages become inflamed and swollen due to an accumulation of excess fluid. This fluid buildup, commonly associated with allergies, collects in the tiny veins beneath the eyes. As a result, blood pools in these veins, causing them to dilate and darken, ultimately leading to the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. These manifestations typically manifest as blue-gray or purple circles beneath the eyelids, a phenomenon commonly referred to as "Allergic Shiners ”.  Any disorder that leads to frequent or ongoing nasal congestion can result in this including recurrent colds or chronic sinus infections.   For this type of dark circles, adopting healthy lifestyle such as getting adequate sleep, staying hydrated, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, managing allergies can help prevent further exacerbation of dark circles.   Does applying cold compresses or chilled cucumber slices to the under-eye area help with dark circles? Cold temperatures prompt the constriction or narrowing of blood vessels. This leads to a temporary reduction in blood flow to the area, which then alleviate swelling, puffiness, and inflammation around the eyes, particularly following a night of inadequate sleep or due to allergies. Blood vessels gradually return to their normal state once the cold treatment ceases, thereby restoring regular blood flow. Therefore, cold compress temporarily reduce puffiness and may not be effective in addressing persistent dark circles.   Some lasers can target and coagulate blood vessels beneath the skin, leading to improvement in the appearance of vascular dark circles. Treatment that can stimulate collagen production like platelet rich plasma (PRP) and Rejuran-I injection can also be done to improve skin quality at the under-eye areas.   Structural type Structural type dark circles are characterized by shadows and hollows under the eyes, resulting from changes in the underlying bone structure, fat distribution, and skin thickness. Unlike other types of dark circles that may primarily involve pigmentation or vascular issues, structural dark circles are often related to the anatomy of the face and aging process.   Hyaluronic acid fillers can be injected into the under-eye area to volumize and smooth the skin, reducing the appearance of hollows.   Droopy eyelids Droopy eyelids, or ptosis in medical term, may be present either at birth (congenital) or develop later in life (acquired), often associated with factors like prolonged contact lens use, trauma, or after eye surgeries such as cataract procedures. Natural aging process is a common cause of ptosis, as over time, the skin and muscles of eyelids undergo stretching and weakening. Less common causes of droopy eyelids involve medical conditions that affect nerves or muscles such as third nerve palsy, myasthenia gravis, myotonic dystrophy and more.   The approach to addressing droopy eyelids varies depending on the underlying cause. When muscle involvement is a factor, corrective measures involve ptosis surgery to tighten the muscles responsible for elevating the eyelids. In cases where droopiness results primarily from excess skin, an upper lid blepharoplasty can be undertaken. In certain cases, combination of both procedures is necessary.   Sunken eyes Sunken eyes, or the appearance of hollows around the eyes, can be caused by various factors. Some common reasons include:   Genetic Genetic factors play a role in determining facial structure and can influence the development of sunken eyes.   Aging Loss of bone density that occurs in aging causes an exaggeration of brows and tear troughs as well as smaller, rounder-looking eyes. Fat loss, decline in the supporting structures, and loss of collagen makes the skin thinner and more translucent, resulting in the hollow appearance of the eyes.   Dehydration Insufficient water intake can cause the skin to lose moisture and appear sunken.   Lack of sleep Chronic sleep deprivation can contribute to tired-looking eyes and exacerbate the appearance of sunken eyes.   Underlying health conditions Certain medical conditions, such as sinus infection, thyroid disorders, or autoimmune diseases, can impact the appearance of the eyes and contribute to a sunken look.   The treatment of sunken eyes can involve the use of dermal fillers, but not every filler is appropriate for this particular area.   Tyndall effect The skin in the eye area is exceptionally thin and transparent. Depending on the type and depth of filler administered, there is a potential for the appearance of noticeable lumps or the Tyndall effect, which is characterized by a bluish discoloration due to light scattering of the particles in the filler employed.   Cohesive polydensified matrix (CPM® ) technology hyaluronic acid gel ( Belotero Balance ), is an ideal agent for treating the tear trough area. The CPM technology produces this gel that combines high levels of crosslinked HA with lighter levels of crosslinked HA in the same product, to give the Belotero Balance properties suited for delicate areas, such as tear troughs. Belotero Balance is soft, smooth, “thin” and is able to integrate well with the surrounding tissues. So, it will not cause Tyndall effect, and is less likely to cause edema due to less compression of the lymphatics.   In conclusion, achieving a more youthful appearance around your eyes is within reach with the right treatments. Whether you opt for non-invasive procedures like laser therapy or injectables, or prefer an immediate transformation by surgical means, there are numerous options available to address your concerns. Personalized treatment plan will be tailored to your specific needs and desired outcomes. Remember, investing in the health and appearance of your skin is an investment in your confidence and well-being.

If you’ve been researching non-invasive skin-lifting treatments, you’ve probably come across both HIFU  and Ultherapy . While both treatments use ultrasound technology to lift and tighten the skin, they are not the same. At RJ Clinic, we offer Ultherapy , the original, FDA-approved treatment for skin tightening and lifting—and here’s why we’ve chosen to provide Ultherapy instead of HIFU treatment malaysia. What is HIFU, and How Does It Compare to Ultherapy? HIFU  (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) has gained popularity in Malaysia due to its lower cost, but it is often regarded as a cheaper, lower-quality alternative  to Ultherapy. Let’s take a closer look: Ultherapy  is the only FDA-approved ultrasound treatment for non-invasive skin lifting and tightening. Ultherapy uses real-time imaging , allowing for precise treatment tailored to your unique skin structure, ensuring optimal results. The results from Ultherapy are longer-lasting  and more comprehensive due to its ability to target deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production. • Should You Still Wear Makeup with Breakouts?

Dealing with breakouts can be a challenging experience, and it often raises questions about whether or not you should continue wearing makeup. While it might seem tempting to cover up those blemishes, it’s important to consider the effects makeup might have on your skin. Let’s explore the pros and cons of wearing makeup during breakouts and some tips for maintaining healthy skin while using cosmetics. The Pros of Wearing Makeup During Breakouts 1. Confidence Boost: - Makeup can provide a significant confidence boost. Covering blemishes can help you feel more comfortable and self-assured in social and professional settings. 2. Even Skin Tone: - Using makeup can even out your skin tone, making breakouts less noticeable. This can create a smoother and more polished appearance. 3. Protection: - Some makeup products contain ingredients that can protect your skin from environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution. The Cons of Wearing Makeup During Breakouts 1. Clogged Pores: - Many makeup products can clog pores, exacerbating breakouts and leading to further skin issues. Look for non-comedogenic options to mitigate this risk. 2. Irritation: - If your skin is already sensitive due to breakouts, certain makeup ingredients can cause additional irritation and inflammation. 3. Masking Rather than Healing: - While makeup can cover blemishes, it doesn’t address the root cause of the breakouts. Prioritizing skincare over makeup can lead to longer-term improvements. Tips for Wearing Makeup with Breakouts 1. Choose the Right Products: - Opt for non-comedogenic, oil-free, and fragrance-free makeup products. These are less likely to clog pores and cause irritation. 2. Prioritize Skincare: - Maintain a consistent skincare routine that includes cleansing, moisturizing, and treating your breakouts. Consider using products with ingredients like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. 3. Clean Tools Regularly: - Ensure that your makeup brushes and sponges are clean to prevent the transfer of bacteria and oils onto your skin. 4. Light Coverage: - Use lightweight, breathable formulas such as tinted moisturizers or BB creams instead of heavy foundations. This can help your skin breathe while still providing some coverage. 5. Spot Conceal: - Instead of applying makeup all over your face, use a concealer to target specific blemishes. This minimizes the amount of product on your skin. 6. Remove Makeup Properly: - Always remove your makeup thoroughly before going to bed. Use a gentle cleanser to ensure that all traces of makeup are gone, allowing your skin to breathe and regenerate overnight. When to Skip Makeup 1. Severe Breakouts: - If you’re experiencing severe breakouts or cystic acne, it might be best to avoid makeup altogether and focus on treating your skin. 2. Skin Sensitivity: - If your skin feels particularly sensitive or irritated, giving it a break from makeup can help reduce inflammation and allow it to heal. 3. Dermatologist’s Advice: - Always follow the advice of your dermatologist. If they recommend avoiding makeup during a treatment period, it’s essential to adhere to their guidance. Invest in Your Skin Instead Instead of focusing on covering up your skin issues with makeup, consider investing in treatments that address the root causes of your breakouts and improve your skin’s overall health. Here are some treatments and products that can make a significant difference: Potenza RF Microneedling Potenza RF microneedling is an advanced treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture. This treatment can help reduce acne scars, tighten the skin, and promote a clearer complexion. Skinboosters Skinboosters are injectable treatments that deliver hyaluronic acid directly into the skin. They provide deep hydration, improve skin elasticity, and can help reduce the appearance of acne scars. Skinboosters are an excellent option for those looking to enhance their skin’s radiance and smoothness. Chemical Peels Chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to the skin to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells. This treatment can improve skin tone, texture, and clarity, making it an effective option for addressing acne and preventing future breakouts. Clinical Skincare Products Investing in high-quality clinical skincare products can make a significant difference in managing breakouts and maintaining healthy skin. Look for products with active ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, and niacinamide. These ingredients can help control acne, reduce inflammation, and promote skin renewal. Conclusion Wearing makeup during breakouts is a personal decision that depends on your skin’s condition and how makeup affects it. While makeup can boost confidence and provide a polished appearance, it’s crucial to prioritize skincare and choose the right products. By following these tips, you can strike a balance between looking your best and maintaining healthy skin. Investing in professional skincare treatments like Potenza RF microneedling, skinboosters, and chemical peels can provide long-term benefits and improve your skin’s health and appearance. • Exploring Common Vaginal Health Concerns for Women

Vaginal health constitutes a crucial component of holistic well-being for women, but it is not always easy to talk about. Many women experience issues such as vaginal dryness, laxity and urinary incontinence, but these can evoke feelings of social awkwardness or shame when communicating with healthcare providers. You need not feel embarrassed or ashamed about experiencing all these problems as they are natural aspect of the female life cycle that will affect most women at some point. Let us explore the causes of these conditions one by one: 1. Vaginal laxity/ looseness Vaginal delivery This is a common phenomenon after vaginal delivery, especially if you have a big baby or undergone forceps delivery. The vagina is naturally designed to expand during childbirth, then contract and return to its original shape afterwards, thanks to the collagen tissue that composes its skin. However, there are limits to this natural elasticity. The vagina will eventually lose its resilience over time after repeated stretches and tears of underlying dermal tissues as baby passes through the birth canal. The pelvic floor musculature serves as a critical support structure for the vagina. However, the process of childbirth can significantly weaken these muscles, leading to vaginal laxity. The degree of vaginal laxity is contingent upon various factors, namely the cumulative and escalating number of vaginal deliveries, the size of newborn, employment of forceps during delivery and trauma associated with each subsequent childbirth. Vaginal laxity causes discomfort and the emergence of excessive vaginal folds causes further distress. Furthermore, it results in a diminished capacity to experience pleasure during sexual intercourse, which may culminate in a reduction in sexual desire, compromised sex life and have negative impact on relationships. Aging As we age, our bodies gradually lose collagen, a ubiquitous protein that serves as a fundamental building block, imparting structural support to various tissues. Regrettably, this diminution of collagen affects the integrity of vaginal tissues, causing vagina to become loose over time. Hormonal changes Physiological decline in the production of estrogen can result in gradual attenuation of vaginal thickness and elasticity. Consequently, the vaginal canal and the adjacent tissues enveloping the vaginal aperture experience loss of strength and structural integrity, culminating in a state of vaginal laxity. Genetic Genetics play a role in determining the overall structure and composition of the vaginal tissues. Some women may have a genetic predisposition to laxity due to differences in the collagen and elastin fibers that make up the vaginal walls. If someone has a genetic variation that affects the production of function of these proteins, it could contribute to the development of vaginal laxity. For example, a mutation in the COL3A1 gene, which encodes for type III collagen, has been associated with pelvic organ prolapse. Is vaginal laxity equal to pelvic organ prolapse? Pelvic organ prolapse is a condition in which the pelvic organs, such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum, descend or bulge into the vaginal canal. Pelvic organ prolapse can occur due to weakened or damaged pelvic muscles and connective tissues, often as a result of childbirth, aging, obesity, or chronic coughing. Vaginal laxity can contribute to pelvic organ prolapse by reducing the strength and support of the vaginal tissues, which can lead to the descent or bulging of the pelvic organs. Conversely, pelvic organ prolapse can also cause or worsen vaginal laxity by stretching and weakening the vaginal tissues. As the pelvic organs descend or bulge into the vaginal canal, they can put pressure on the vaginal tissues and cause them to stretch or tear, which can result in vaginal laxity. However, not all cases of vaginal laxity are related to pelvic organ prolapse, and not all cases of pelvic organ prolapse are related to vaginal laxity. Each condition can occur independently or be caused by a combination of factors. Does frequent sexual intercourse cause vagina to become loose? This is one interesting and common misconception that I would like to address. In fact, sex does not have a lasting impact on vaginal tension. When a woman is sexually aroused, your pelvic floor muscles relax, allowing for penetrative sex. After intercourse, the vagina returns to its usual shape and tension. There is no scientific evidence to support the idea that regular sex can cause the vagina to become loose over time. 2. Vaginal dryness Vaginal dryness can cause discomfort during sexual activity, as well as itching and irritation. It can be caused by: Hormonal changes The primary reason behind vaginal dryness is the decrease in estrogen levels, especially after menopause. Estrogen is responsible for sustaining normal vaginal lubrication, tissue elasticity and acidity, which ensure the healthy condition of vaginal tissue. Medical conditions and medications Vaginal dryness can also be caused by specific medical conditions such as Sjogren’s syndrome or cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Additionally, some medications such as antihistamines and antidepressants can have vaginal dryness as a side effect. 3. Stress urinary incontinence Stress incontinence is a condition characterised by the leakage of urine when coughing, laughing or any form of physical exertion. This can be a stressful and disruptive condition that can have a negative impact on one’s quality of life. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including: Aging As we age, pelvic floor muscles that support the bladder weaken, leading to urinary incontinence. Childbirth Your bladder is supported by your pelvic floor muscles. After delivery, most women have weakened pelvic floor muscle due to the stretch and tension and damage from vaginal laceration, hence resulting in urinary incontinence. Extra pressure on bladder Conditions that put extra pressure on the bladder, such as being overweight or obese and chronic coughing can lead to urinary incontinence. In the past, these conditions which often arise as a result of childbirth, were regarded as inevitable and deemed an acceptable consequence of giving birth. In the 1940s, Dr Arnold Kegel introduced a simple yet effective solution- Kegel exercises- named after him, to help women who were experiencing urinary incontinence after childbirth. Kegel exercises, also known as pelvic floor exercises, are a type of exercise that involves contracting and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles that support the bladder, vagina, uterus and rectum. Kegel exercises can be done by both men and women, and they can be performed discreetly anytime, anywhere. The first step in doing Kegel exercises is to identify the pelvic floor muscles by stopping the flow of urine midstream or by imagining that you are trying to stop yourself from passing gas. Once you have identified the muscles, you can then begin contracting and relaxing them for a few seconds at a time. Kegel exercises have numerous benefits, including: - Improved bladder and bowel control - Increased sexual satisfaction and improved orgasmic potential - Reduced risk of pelvic organ prolapse - Enhanced blood flow to pelvic region - Improved recovery after childbirth Restoring Confidence with Vaginal Laser Therapy As technology continues to evolve, more sophisticated and efficient solutions have emerged to address common vaginal health concerns. Among them is vaginal laser therapy, utilising Erbium YAG Petit Lady Laser, which offers a more effective treatment option. How does it work? This laser works by delivering laser energy directly to the vaginal tissue, heats the tissues and deliberately induces controlled damage to the vaginal tissues. The induced trauma prompts the body’s inherent healing response, which involves the production of collagen. The augmented collagen production, in turn, leads to the rejuvenation, thickening and tightening of vaginal wall, and improved function like lubrication. Benefits of vaginal laser: 1. Improves vaginal lubrication Vaginal laser therapy can help to increase blood flow to the vaginal area and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which can improve vaginal lubrication and reduce vaginal dryness. 2. Reduces vaginal laxity Vaginal laser therapy can help to tighten and tone the vaginal tissues, which can reduce vaginal laxity and improve the appearance and sensation of the vaginal area. 3. Enhances sexual function By increasing vaginal lubrication and improving the tightness of the vaginal tissues, they can potentially enhance sexual function and satisfaction due to reduced pain and increased sensitivity. 4. Treats urinary incontinence Vaginal laser can improve mild to moderate urinary incontinence as collagen remodelling helps to support bladder neck and urethra. While vaginal laser treatment can improve the tightness and elasticity of the vaginal tissues, it is not typically recommended as a primary treatment for pelvic organ prolapse. Instead, treatment options for pelvic organ prolapse are aimed at addressing the underlying weakness or damage to the pelvic muscles and connective tissues. What to expect during the treatment? The procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. After proper cleaning, specialised laser probe will be inserted into the vagina, and laser energy will be delivered to the vaginal tissue. There are 360 degrees probe that targets the whole vagina for vaginal rejuvenation, and 90 degrees probe to treat stress urinary incontinence. Patients find it painless and generally well-tolerated. Who can get vaginal laser treatment? Not all women are good candidates for vaginal laser treatment. Women who are pregnant, have active vaginal infection or undiagnosed vaginal bleeding should not undergo the procedure. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) Apart from vaginal laser, hormonal therapy can also help reduce vaginal dryness. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a treatment option for vaginal dryness that involves the use of hormones to restore estrogen levels in the body. As mentioned previously, estrogen is a hormone that plays crucial role in maintaining vaginal health, including the production of vaginal lubrication. As women age and go through menopause, estrogen levels decline, which can cause a range of symptoms, including vaginal dryness, itching and burning. HRT can be an effective wat to alleviate these symptoms by supplementing the body’s natural estrogen production. HRT can be administered in different forms, such as pills, patches, creams, or vaginal rings. Vaginal estrogen preparations, such as creams, tablets, or rings, or specifically designed to treat vaginal dryness and can provide quick and effective relief. These preparations work by delivering estrogen directly to the vaginal tissues, which helps to increase vaginal lubrication and thickness of the vaginal lining. While HRT can be effective in treating vaginal dryness, it is important to note that is may also be not suitable for everyone. Women with history of breast cancer, blood clots, or liver disease, for instance, may not be able to take estrogen. Additionally, HRT can have some potential side effects, such as bloating, breast tenderness and nausea. Why is my genital area getting darker? Aging brings about many changes to our bodies, some of which are expected, while some you may not notice or anticipate. One such change is the alteration in the colour of the skin around your genital area. The skin in the genital and anal areas of both males and females often appears darker than other parts of the body. This so-called hyperpigmentation is a common occurrence, especially in individuals who have gone through puberty. There are several reasons why intimate areas can appear darker than other parts of your body: Friction and inflammation Friction caused by tight clothing or physical activity can cause the skin to thicken and darken over time, as increased friction leads to melanocyte hyperactivity and pigmentation. Inflammation or irritation caused by waxing, shaving or other forms of hair removal can result in darkening of the skin. The skin folds in the groin area can also undergo a process called keratinisation due to constant rubbing or trauma, which results in thicker and darker skin in those areas. Inflammation caused by rubbing against skin or infections can also lead to postinflammatory hyperpigmentation. Hormonal changes The cells responsible for producing melanin in the skin, called melanocytes, are especially sensitive to hormones. As such, hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy, or aging can cause the genital area to darken gradually. Estrogen is one of the hormones that can result in increased pigmentation. This explains the darkening of areolae and nipples as well during pregnancy. Aging You will probably notice genital area gets darker with time. This is because as we age, our skin experiences more years of repeated trauma and hormonal changes. Several medical conditions can also cause darkening of genital area, including: Acanthosis nigricans, which is a condition that causes thickening of the outer layer of skin resulting in a discolouration of brown-to-black, typically around the neck, armpits and groin area. Acanthosis nigricans is most commonly associated with diabetes and insulin resistance, but rarely it can be a sign of internal malignancy. Hormonal disorders or use of certain medications like systemic glucocorticoids and oral contraceptives. Addison disease, also called adrenal insufficiency, is an uncommon illness that can cause hyperpigmentation in certain areas of the body. Hyperpigmentation can occur due to the stimulant effect of excess adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) on the melanocytes to produce melanin. Obesity is associated with darker genital area as excess weight can cause areas of the skin to darken due to friction and rubbing. Fortunately, hyperpigmentation at the genital area can be improved with laser that targets pigment. Laser works by targeting the pigment in the skin cells and breaking it down with heat energy. This process is known as selective photothermolysis and is effective at removing unwanted pigmentation without damaging the surrounding tissue. While laser therapy can effectively treat hyperpigmentation in the genital area, it is imperative to consult a doctor for thorough investigation if this condition is accompanied by other symptoms that suggest an underlying medical condition. In such cases, treatment of the underlying medical condition should be prioritised. Let's Feel Empowered, Confident, and Rejuvenated!

  • The Beauty Through Different Lenses

Beauty, as a concept, is deeply personal and shaped by a number of influences, including cultural, social and historical factors. Across diverse cultures and races, perceptions of beauty exhibit remarkable variation. When examining facial aesthetics, it becomes apparent that different races hold distinct ideals of beauty. In certain Asian cultures, delicate features such as petite noses are heralded as epitomes of beauty. Conversely, Western cultures often admire a smaller visage adorned with high cheekbones and a chiseled jawline. In some African societies, larger noses and fuller lips are cherished as symbols of allure, whereas certain Middle Eastern cultures praise the prominence of a well-defined nose. Let’s discuss about beauty standards and interesting trends, with a focus on Western and Korean cultures. We will also explore how to achieve the desired looks associated with these standards. Western High cheek bones In contemporary Western society, high cheekbones are often associated with models, celebrities, and individuals who are considered conventionally attractive. The media plays a significant role in promoting this beauty standard, as images of people with high cheekbones are frequently showcased in advertisements, fashion magazines, and entertainment industries. Dermal fillers can be an effective non- surgical option for enhancing the appearance of high cheekbones. Dermal fillers are injectable substances that are used to add volume, contour, and shape to different areas of the face, including the cheeks. When it comes to achieving high cheekbones, dermal fillers are injected into specific areas of the cheeks to create more definition and a lifted appearance. Defined jawline A strong jawline typically refers to a distinct, angular shape where the jawbone meets the neck. The definition of the jawline can be influenced by various factors, including natural bone resorption that occurs with aging, fat in the lower face, presence of double chin, excessive activity of platysma muscle, or inherent genetic factors that contribute to one’s facial structure. Treatment approaches may differ based on the underlying cause. For instance, if a less defined jawline is due to excess fat at the lower face or a double chin, mesolipolysis or liposuction may be recommended. In cases where bone resorption from aging is the issue, dermal fillers can provide the necessary support and definition. Alternatively, when excessive activity of the platysma muscle is the concern, injection of botulinum toxin A into the specific muscle can help resolve it. Other than that, ultherapy and thread lift are treatments that can effectively address sagginess, which is often responsible for a less defined jawline. By providing firming and lifting effects, jawline can be enhanced, resulting in a more well-defined appearance. Plumped lips In Western beauty tends, plumped lips have become increasingly popular in recent years. The focus is on achieving a visibly fuller pout, with an emphasis on enhancing lip volume, particularly in the central areas of the upper and lower lips. This can be achieved by injection of dermal fillers. Some people even opt for more invasive option, which is lip lift surgery that aims to enhance the appearance of the upper lip by shortening the distance between the upper lip and the base of the nose. It is often sought by individuals who have a longer space between the nose and the upper lip. The surgical technique involves removing a small section of skin and tissue located just above the upper lip, typically in the area between the base of nose and the vermillion border (the border between the coloured part of the lip and the surrounding skin). By shortening this distance, more of the pink lip tissue is exposed, resulting in a lifted and more defined upper lip contour. “Duck lips” is a term used to describe a particular lip appearance that has gained attention and sometimes criticism in popular culture. It refers to an exaggerated or overfilled look of the lips, often achieved through excessive lips filler injections. The result is a pout that protrudes outward, resembling the bill of a duck. The trend of duck lips emerged alongside the popularity of plumped lips in Western beauty standards. However, not all individuals who seek lip enhancements desire or aim for the duck lips look. The exaggerated aesthetic is typically associated with an overdone or disproportionate use of lip fillers. While some people may find the duck lips trend appealing, it has received criticism for deviating from a natural-looking lip appearance. Many beauty professionals and individuals opt for a more subtle and balanced approach to lip augmentation, aiming to enhance the lips while maintaining harmony with the overall facial features. Cat or fox eyes Another trend that has taken the beauty world by storm is the fox eyes trend. The fox eyes trend has quickly become a go-to look for many when influential figures like the Hadid and Kardashian sisters embraced the upturned eyes and arched brow aesthetic. But what exactly is the fox eye trend? Inspired by the captivating eyes of a fox, this trend is all about creating an elongated, almond-shaped eye appearance using numbers of approaches, for example, makeup, brow shaping, lash extension and curling, but some individuals may opt for more long-lasting solutions to achieve the look, which is by thread lift or surgical procedures. Thread lifts procedures involve the utilisation of dissolvable threads to lift the eyebrows and outer corners of the eyes, creating the desired effect. Surgical procedures, such as canthoplasty or lateral canthopexy, can also be performed to modify the shape and positioning of the outer corners of the eyes. Freckles In recent years, freckles have become a trend in the West. Freckles are small, pigmented spots on the skin usually found on sun exposed skin. They are very common, especially in lighter skinned with blond or red hair. Historically, freckles were sometimes seen as undesirable or even covered up, but there has been a shift in beauty standards, and many people now embrace freckles as a cute, unique and attractive feature. The freckles trend gained momentum partly due to the rise of social media and the influence of popular culture. Celebrities and influencers who have natural freckles, such as model Gigi Hadid, actress Emma Watson have helped to popularise freckles and make them more widely accepted. Because of this trend, there has been an increase in products and techniques designed to create the illusion of freckles for those who don’t naturally have them. For example, some makeup brands offer freckle pencils or markers that allow individuals to draw freckles on their skin, giving the appearance of sun-kissed look. Additionally, freckles have become a popular feature in beauty and fashion editorials, advertising campaigns, and runway shows. Many photographers and makeup artists accentuate freckles in their work, showcasing the natural beauty and diversity of individuals. A trend has also gained popularity on TikTok where users, particularly beauty influencers, are using temporary hair colour sprays across the nose and cheeks to get fake freckles, while some use henna to draw semi-permanent freckles on their faces. The boobs and the booty In Western countries, there is a prevailing preference for body figures with more pronounced curves. There are several celebrities who are admired for their curvaceous bodies and considered attractive. Some examples include Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Kim Kardashian and Scarlett Johansson. While some individuals are naturally blessed with a voluptuous figure, others head straight to the gym, specifically targeting exercises like squats, in the pursuit of curves like an hourglass. The journey from flat to fabulous sometimes do require some makeover. Breast augmentation and butt lift are popular procedures. Breast augmentation can be done with breast fillers, fat transfer or implants, whereas for those seeking a fuller, rounder, more lifted buttock contour, surgical butt lifts, fillers, and the infamous Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) are at your service. Korean On the other side of the globe, the Korean beauty industry has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity attributed to the rise in fame of K-dramas and K-pop. The Korean beauty standard emphasizes flawless, luminous skin, delicate facial features, and a youthful appearance. This ideal draws inspiration from traditional beauty practices, such as the pursuit of “glass skin” and the charm of aegyo sal, while embracing modern trends like K-pop and the global “K beauty” phenomenon. Clear skin Korean beauty standards focus on having clear, smooth and youthful-looking skin with a complexion that is light, bright, and free from blemishes, including freckles. So how do they achieve this seemingly flawless skin? First of all, Koreans knows how to pamper their skin like it’s royalty. They take their sunscreen and skincare routine seriously, but there are also times when skincare alone is not enough to reach the pinnacle of perfection. This is when aesthetic procedures come into picture. Lasers help to reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone, skin boosters hydrate and brighten the skin, vitamin drip for whitening and biostimulators injection to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This might be one of the reasons why Koreans look perpetually youthful, defying their actual age. Oval or V-shaped face There is a particular emphasis on the shape of the face. An oval or V-shaped face is considered the ideal, as it exudes a youthful charm. Some individuals possess smooth and curvaceous facial structure, others may have a more square-shaped face due to enlarged masseter muscles. This can be a result of genetics, teeth grinding, or excessive chewing. Botox injection can address the size of masseter muscle by temporarily relaxing the muscle fibers, reducing the bulkiness and hypertrophy of masseter muscles. Unlike the Western beauty ideal that often cherishes high cheekbones and a defined jawline, the focus in Korea leans more towards achieving a harmonious and smooth facial contour. Dermal fillers are popular option to sculpt facial structure in a softer and more feminine appearance, including smoother cheeks and enhance a narrow and petite chin, perfectly complementing a desired V-shaped face. For those seeking a more dramatic transformation, V-line surgery (jaw and chin reduction) and cheekbone reduction (zygoma) surgeries are popular tools to change the facial contour. Also, a V-shaped face must have a forehead proportionate to the rest of the face, striking a delicate balance. So, dermal fillers are widely used to create a smooth forehead. Straight eyebrows While it may seem like a minor detail, eyebrows hold the key to framing and accentuating the features of the face. Koreans admire the beauty of simplicity- a pair of eyebrows that gracefully follow the natural curve of the brow bone without excessive arching or sharp angles. These straight or slightly arched eyebrows create a perception of youthfulness. Double eyelids Double eyelids are believed to make the eyes appear larger, more expressive and aesthetically pleasing. In Korea, where monolids are more common among the population, the desire for double eyelids has led people to double eyelid surgery. It has become a routine procedure for many individuals seeking to enhance their eye shape. Aegyo Sal Aegyo Sal is a beauty trend that originated in South Korea. It refers to the slight puffiness under the eyes that create a youthful and cute appearance. “Aegyo” means cuteness or charming in Korean, and “sal” means flesh or fat. The trend gained popularity in the early 2000s and has since become a prominent feature in Korean beauty standards. “ Aren’t those eyebags?” There are differences between Aegyo Sal and eyebags. The primary distinction lies in the placement and colour. Aegyo sal becomes noticeable right below your lower eye lids when you smile, while eyebags are present regardless of your facial expression. Eyebags can also be darker and typically appear lower, usually extending about two inches beneath the eyes. In order to achieve this look, hyaluronic acid filler can be injected, or individuals can also undergo fat transfer to the undereye area to add volume. Lips While the desire for plumper lips is prominent, the trend also emphasizes natural-looking results. Many individuals aim for a balance between enhanced volume and maintaining the overall harmony of their facial features. In other words, Koreans prefer lips that are plump and inviting, yet still maintain a sense of authenticity. Body contour When it comes to body contour, Korean beauty standards differ from those in the West. In Korea, curvaceous figures like that of Kim Kardashian are often considered excessive. Instead, the beauty ideal for Korean women is to be thin and slender, emphasizing a slim and lean physique rather than a muscular or athletic one. The focus is more on appearing thin rather than having a curvy or voluptuous shape. To achieve a slim appearance, other than exercising, many women resort to dieting or choose to undergo aesthetic procedures such as mesolipolysis or liposuction. These methods are commonly employed to reduce body fat and contour the body according to desired beauty standards. However, beauty standards are not fixed or uniform within a country. They evolve over time, influenced by changing societal values, media representation, and individual interpretations. What is considered beautiful in one region may differ from another. • 8 THINGS you need to know TODAY before getting your eyelids done

I’m sure by now if you are reading this article, you are probably looking to get a double eyelid procedure done but still antsy about it and probably still considering. 1. TYPES OF DOUBLE EYELID CREATION. there are 2 main types of double eyelid creation. Either you choose surgical blepharoplasty or a minimally invasive double eyelid stitching. If you need excess skin removal or multiple corrections in one setting, surgical blepharoplasty is the one for you. 2. DIFFERENT TYPES OF EYELIDS. There are a few types of double eyelids. But when it comes to choosing one for your surgery, it comes down to parallel shape or tapered shape. Parallel shape is more popular option in Malaysia as it gives the illusion of bigger eyes without the need for epicanthoplasty. 3. YOU CANNOT 100% GET THE EYES OF YOUR IDOL Yes, it is very tempting to want to look like your favourite idol. But unless you are looking to get a surgery done in Korea (even that I’m not sure they can do it), a simple eyelid stitching will not get you anywhere near a lookalike. However, your eyes will definitely be a better version compared to before doing it. 4. DOCTORS ARE NOT GODS Omaiiigoodd! I cannot emphasize this enough. Many a times, I get clients who have the illusion that we can perform miracles despite numerous pre-surgery consults emphasizing the same thing over and over again. No, we are not gods. No we can’t perform miracles. Yes, there will DEFINITELY be downtime. No, you don’t instantly get the end result without any swelling whatsoever. No, you will not look like Korean popstar. No, your eyes cannot be zero puffy if you are banking on the fence of overweight and obese (c’mon guys, our skin has subcutaneous fats too which are never extracted during an eyelid surgery. We only remove fats in compartmentalised fat pads). 5. RISKS AND RECOVERY Eyelid procedures are done very near the eyes. And it’s the first thing that someone will see when they look at you. Especially now that we wear masks, your eyes become the centre of attention. Swelling is unavoidable as you will be injected with local anesthesia. This takes easily up to 3 months to FULLY SUBSIDE for eyelid stitching, and possibly up to 1 year for eyelid cutting. Of course, you can start using makeup by 1 week. 6. CHOOSE A DOCTOR I cannot emphasize this enough. Always go to a doctor for this to be done. When done by non certified professional or beautician, you run the risks of scarring, infections, imbalance work, improper assessment of ptosis etc 7. HEIGHT OF EYELIDS Suitable height of eyelid is very subjective and takes into account factors such as do you wear makeup? Do you natural or more exaggerated look? Do you want tapered or parallel shapes? Or do you have asymmetrical eyelids with one side already having a higher eyelid? Or do you have ptosis? 8. BIG SMALL EYES/ PTOSIS CONDITION MUST BE CORRECTED this condition also known as ptosis is due to a weakness in our eyelid muscles that lift the eyelids. When there is weakness in one or both eyes, it will lead to droopy eyelids or assymetrical eyelids. • The Misconceptions in Aesthetic Medicine

Aesthetic medicine is kind of a big deal lately, getting tons of attention and sparking conversations. But, not everyone's cheering it on—some folks are giving it the side-eye. Are these beauty treatments getting a bad rap, or is it just a case of mixed-up stories? Listed below are the myths and misunderstandings surrounding aesthetic medicine. Misconception 1: Aesthetic procedures are only for the vain Some people believe that those who opt for aesthetic procedures are only doing it because they are chasing social media fame. Sure, social media has its influence, and let's be real, who doesn't want to rack up those likes and views? But, the world of aesthetic treatments is way more diverse than just chasing popularity. One significant reason is the confidence boost that comes with looking and feeling your best. Aesthetic treatments are not just about outward appearances; they can be a powerful tool for enhancing self-esteem and promoting a positive self-image. It is not about being vain; it is about feeling good in your own skin. Moreover, let’s not forget that aesthetic procedures sometimes play a role in correcting imperfections resulting from accidents or medical conditions. It is not always about chasing an idealised beauty standard, it is about reclaiming a sense of normalcy or addressing physical challenges. And guess what? The aging process is entirely natural, but not everyone is ready to fully embrace it, and that is perfectly okay! Aesthetic treatments can help address signs of aging, not because someone is trying to turn back time unrealistically, but because they want to age gracefully and maintain a sense of confidence in their appearance. Similarly, when it comes to addressing acne and those lingering acne scars, it is not just about the physical aspect. Acne can take a toll on a person’s self-esteem, and the impact goes beyond skin deep, influencing their daily life. Imagine waking up every day, facing the mirror, and feeling disheartened by the visible marks left by acne. By targeting and minimising acne and scars, these treatments contribute significantly to helping individuals regain control over their appearance. Misconception 2: Aesthetic results look unnatural Many people shy away from aesthetic treatments because they fear walking out looking like a completely different person. One of the most prevalent yet undesired outcomes in aesthetic procedures is known as facial overfilled syndrome. Facial overfilled syndrome happens when there's an excessive and frequent use of dermal fillers, leading to a swollen or overly plumped appearance. But here's the lowdown: we aim for natural results unless our client requests for a dramatic change. Modern techniques focus on making enhancements that blend in with your own features, so it's not about going extreme but more about giving you a little boost that looks totally balanced. The aim? You, but just a bit upgraded. Misconception 3: Aesthetic procedures are one-size-fits-all Each person’s anatomy, skin type, and aesthetic goals are unique. It is essential to recognize that even if you and a friend share a similar concern, the assumption that the same treatment would be applicable to both is a misconception. Aesthetic treatment is personalized, meaning that each person’s unique characteristics and goals are taken into account when devising a treatment plan. Misconception 4: Aesthetic procedures are always invasive and risky While surgical procedures exist, there is a wide array of non-invasive or minimally invasive treatments available. Technological advancements, such as lasers, injectables, threads, and energy- based devices, allow for effective aesthetic enhancements with reduced risks and downtime. While it is fantastic that aesthetic treatments can address concerns with less invasive approaches, it is crucial to understand that minimally invasive procedures come with their own set of limitations. Let’s take the example of a facelift: if you are dealing with significant skin laxity and you aim to shave off a couple of decades from your appearance, a surgical facelift might be the more suitable option. This brings us to another common misconception about aesthetic treatments- the belief that minimally invasive procedures can provide a 100% solution to any issue. It is essential to manage expectations realistically. While these treatments can work in enhancing and rejuvenating, they may not achieve the same level of transformation as invasive surgical procedures, especially in cases of advanced aging or severe skin conditions. Understanding the scope and limitations is the key to achieving satisfying results. If you're after a non-surgical treatment that gives your face a tight and lifted look, Renuvion J Plasma is likely your best option. This technology uses a mix of helium plasma and radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of your skin in a precise and controlled way, resulting in skin tightening and rejuvenation without going under the knife. However, surgical facelift is best if you’re in your late 50s and beyond and are experiencing severe drooping skin. Additional information: Renuvion J Plasma is not limited to just the face—it can also be done on various body areas like the tummy, love handles, back, arms, and thighs. What's even better is that it can be paired with liposuction. If you've had liposuction, this treatment can tighten the skin in those treated areas, giving you a more sculpted and contoured look. Misconception 5: A Single treatment can solve your problem completely A prevalent misconception in aesthetic medicine revolves around the belief that a single treatment is sufficient to yield optimal results. In reality, achieving the desired outcome often involves a combination of treatments employing various modalities. This misconception of one-size-fits-all solution can lead to unrealistic expectations and dissatisfaction with the results. It is important to understand that the human body responds differently to treatments, and the multifaceted nature of aesthetic concerns may necessitate a comprehensive approach. For instance, addressing facial rejuvenation may require a combination of treatments such as botox for dynamic wrinkles, fillers for deep static wrinkles and volume restoration, energy based devices for lifting and skin texture improvement. Each modality targets specific aspects, synergistically contributing to an overall enhanced appearance. This approach not only enhances the effectiveness of the treatment but also allows for a more personalised and nuanced outcome. Building on the discussion of facial overfilled syndrome mentioned earlier, it is important to know that solely depending on a single method—such as using dermal fillers to tackle facial sagging, heightens the likelihood of overfilling the face. When we limit ourselves to one treatment modality, we might unintentionally go overboard. While not every issue necessitates multiple treatment modalities, some of your concerns may indeed require more than a single treatment. Misconception 6: The practitioner is fully responsible for your treatment results Keeping up with the results of your aesthetic treatment is not just about what happens in the clinic. It is also about what you do at home and how you live your life. Do not assume that the treatment alone does all the work. Taking care of yourself and making good lifestyle choices are key players in making sure you get the most out of your aesthetic experience. Let say you get a laser treatment for your hyperpigmentation, your skincare routine at home matters. Sunscreen, and skincare products that lighten pigments, antioxidants are important to help your skin stay healthy and makes treatment results last longer. If you're getting treatment for acne, it's crucial to resist the urge to touch or pop your pimples. Steering clear of high-glycemic-index foods and dairy products is also key. Make sure to stick to the skincare routine or take any oral medications as prescribed. Consistency is the name of the game. Misconception 7: Aesthetic treatments are overpriced There is a common belief that aesthetic treatments are overpriced, but the equipment, machines, and injectable products used in these treatments come with a hefty price tag. Prioritising the safety of our clients and ensuring effective results are non-negotiable. We invest in good products and machines, and the cost is a reflection of the quality we uphold. Furthermore, aesthetic doctors undergo extensive training, starting from years in medical school to serving in government hospitals and additional training to continually enhance knowledge and skills. When you pay for a treatment, you are not just covering the procedure; you are also paying for the expertise and service provided by trained professionals. Besides, some wonder why they shouldn’t opt for cheaper skincare products at the drugstore or some random online shop. The key difference lies in the fact that the products we use are of medical grade. Their higher cost is justified by the rigorous studies conducted to prove their effectiveness and safety. Frequently, the formulation and concentration of ingredients in products can vary, leading to different outcomes. You should also beware of counterfeit products or machines in the market. If you come across a significant price difference at other establishments, it's a red flag that should prompt questions about the authenticity of the machine or product. Using counterfeit products or machines not only fails to deliver results comparable to the genuine ones but can also pose a risk of complications if luck is not on your side. Misconception 8: Aesthetic procedures’ results are permanent Another common misconception is that aesthetic results are permanent. While some treatments offer long-lasting effects, the majority are not permanent and may require maintenance over time. Factors such as aging, lifestyle, and individual physiology can influence the longevity of results. Take hyaluronic acid fillers, they hang around for about 1 to 1 1/2 years, while Botox does its thing for 3-6 months. Result from Ultherapy lasts one to two years depending on how good you are at keeping your collagen game strong through your lifestyle and diet. More invasive procedures like liposuction and eyebag surgery, despite offering results that last longer than less invasive options, don't last forever. Changes in weight and the natural aging process can still have a say in how long these surgical outcomes stick around. Misconception 9: Only one treatment session is required Getting the best out of most non-invasive or minimally invasive aesthetic treatments usually involves a series of sessions. Whether it is to reach the optimal outcome initially or to keep those results in check, multiple sessions are often required. Misconception 10: Aesthetic treatments are only for the face Our aesthetic treatments extend beyond the face to include rejuvenation for areas such as the neck, décolletage, and hands, restoration of hair, as well as body contouring treatment to enhance your overall appearance and confidence. Our treatments also extend to the most personal areas, taking care of your intimate business for both the ladies and gents. Because self-care should be a party for every body part! Misconception 11: Aesthetic treatments are only for females Some people still think that beauty treatments are only for women. But guess what? That's old news! Nowadays, more guys are getting in on the action to look and feel their best. So, guys, don't be shy—looking good isn't just for the ladies. If you are already confident with how you look, why not bring that A-game to the bedroom too? Aesthetic treatments are not just for looking good—they can also level up your performance!
