Double Chin Removal in Malaysia: Which Treatment Works Best?

The double chin is one of those concerns that seems simple… until you try to treat it.
Most patients assume it’s just fat. And sometimes, it is.
But quite often, when I assess the area, I find that there’s more going on beneath the surface.
Some patients have a clear layer of fat under the chin. These are usually the more straightforward cases. Reduce the fat, and the contour improves.
But others have something different — the skin itself has started to loosen slightly. Or the jawline has lost definition over time, causing everything to appear heavier.
In these situations, removing fat alone doesn’t fully solve the issue.
In fact, if you remove too much fat without addressing the skin, it can sometimes make the area look less firm.
Why double chin happens
Common causes:
Genetics
Fat accumulation
Skin laxity
Aging
This is why I tend to approach double chin treatment in layers.
First, I consider whether fat is the main contributor. If it is, then fat reduction makes sense — whether through injections or more direct methods.
But at the same time, I’m also thinking about the skin. Does it have enough elasticity? Will it retract nicely after fat reduction?
If the answer is uncertain, then I usually combine it with a tightening approach.
Treatment Options
Good for mild to moderate fat
Multiple sessions

Removes fat + tightens skin
More defined result

3. Skin Tightening (Ultherapy / RF)
Best if loose skin is main issue

Which one should you choose?

Depends on cause:
Fat → fat reduction
Loose skin → tightening
Both → combination
What many people don’t realise is that the jawline is not just about removing volume. It’s about creating structure.
And structure often requires more than one method.
What most patients need
Honestly:👉 Combination approach
So when someone asks me, “Which treatment is best for double chin?” — I don’t immediately name one.
Instead, I explain that the best result usually comes from addressing both:
what’s underneath (fat)
and what’s supporting it (skin)
My clinical perspective
Single treatments rarely give optimal results.
A tailored plan always works better.
Because in aesthetic medicine, the goal isn’t just reduction. It’s proportion.
